Pôle des langues et civilisations

In 2010, under baldinger•vu-huu, André and me won the pitch for the new visual identity of two institutions: BULAC (Bibliothèque universitaire des langues et civilisations) a library specialised in oriental languages and inalco (Institut national des langues et civilisations orientales) a school for oriental languages. They are moving together in a new building and creating a third institution together, wich will be the Pôle des langues et civilisations.

Logotypes

The aime was to create three identities wich are different for each institution and it’s special field (spoken oriental langues and written oriental langues), but wich keep visualy linked together based on common elements.

Concept BULAC

The acronym BULAC stands for ”B=Bibliothèque, U=Universitaire, LA=Langues, C=Civilisation”. The languages are available at the BULAC in written form (books, magazines…) wich is symbolised by the brackets. Each letter of the acronym is translated instead of french in one oriental language.

Concept inalco

The acronym inalco stands for ”i=institut, na=national, l=langues, c=civilisations, o=orientales”. The languages are teached at the inalco in a spoken form wich is symbolised by the speech bubbles. Each letter of the acronym is translated instead of french in one oriental language.
